Cobra Technologies, Inc. (Cobra) has taken full advantage of the Lotus SametimeTM technology to design and create a series of Cobra Bots producing immediate out-of-the box benefits while enhancing the functionality of the Lotus Sametime environment.
Cobra Bots For Lotus Sametime (Cobra Bots) are powerful "interactive agents" that perform actions at your command within your existing Lotus Sametime environment and return the results during live Sametime chat sessions. Users can interact with the Cobra Bots as they would with another Sametime user. A variety of Cobra Bots are available, including bots that can return calendar and staff information data, send users reminders/to-dos, perform look ups to a company directory and alert users to important email.
Cobra Bots take advantage of Sametime's real-time collaboration features to provide an interactive, text-based interface. There are so many ways that you can use Cobra Bots.
- Do you want to quickly search and retrieve skills information for a particular co-worker from you corporate Lotus Notes skills database? Domino Lookup Bots can find it for you quickly and easily with very little setup effort or training. The Domino Lookup Bot will prompt the user (based on the prompts specified in the configuration document) and will return the documents found to the user. If more than one match is found, the user simply selects the number and the results for that document will be displayed.
- Do you want to easily query data stored in your corporate IBM DB2 tables? The Enterprise Lookup Bot can interact directly with any JDBC-compliant data source and provide the user with immediate data through the Lotus Sametime interface.
- Did you miss that last important meeting because you forgot to turn the page of your calendar? Reminder Bots can prompt you before the meeting starts. The Cobra Reminder Bot will allow the user to add, list or delete a message reminder for a specified date, time and particular message. The user will be prompted on the selected date and time with the message.
- Would you like to keep track of important thoughts or journal new ideas and information quickly and easily from your desktop? Use the Journal Bot to quickly record important information and data via Lotus Sametime! The Journal Bot allows for the creation of new journal entries, additions to existing entries and searching content in existing entries.
- How many times have you tried to arrange a meeting and not been able to quickly locate whether others are available to attend a meeting? The Calendar Bot will prompt the user for the first and last name of the user to be searched, will search the Domino Directory, will then prompt the user for a date to lookup against the calendar and then the Calendar Bot displays the data to the user.
- Directory Bot can provide a very quick and intuitive method for you to search and retreive directory information from your Lotus Domino Directory or any standard v3 LDAP compliant directory. The Directory Bot will prompt you for a last name and then will return specific person information for each match it finds in the corporate directory. With the ability to use wildcards and its quick and easy interface, the Directory Bot will become your single point of access to your corporate staffing information.
The range of Cobra Bots that can be developed is limited only by the ability to conceive the uses to which they can be put.
